Chambers and Partners
Hughmans Solicitors joins Murrays Partnership
In August 2020, the criminal law team from Hughmans Solicitors joined Murrays Partnership. The team, led by senior partner Peter Hughman, brought a formidable reputation in the field of serious and complex crime.
Peter Hughman, who joined the firm as a consultant after 40 years of running Hughmans Solicitors, has been instructed in some of the most significant cases of his generation. This includes the largest prosecution for insider trading ever brought by the Financial Conduct Authority, in which he acted for one of the leading defendants.
Katie Kipps and Luke Gittos, who both trained under Peter Hughman, are both regularly instructed in serious and complex casework. They have developed a loyal client base in serious and organised crime. In January 2021, Katie Kipps and Luke Gittos both became partners at Murrays Partnership.
We want to maintain the reputation that Hughmans had developed for excellence in client care and criminal litigation.
That is why we are excited to announce that Murrays Partnership is becoming Murray Hughman Solicitors.
The name change reflects two of London’s leading criminal practices, joining forces. It will represent an exciting new chapter in the story of Murrays Partnership and a new beginning for the lawyers from Hughmans.
‘This is an exciting time for lawyers at Murrays Partnership’ said Managing Partner, Grant Ambridge. ‘The addition of the exceptional team from Hughmans solicitors presents huge opportunities. The two firms have enjoyed a strong relationship for a long time and we are all excited about the new offering’.
Murrays Partnership and Hughmans Solicitors have both been dominant forces in criminal law for decades. Their merger creates a powerful new force in the criminal law market.
